THE COVER STORY

Lisa Moore made her mark in the swimwear industry when she founded cover® sun conscious clothing® in 2008. She was the first to recognize the need for stylish sun protective t-shirts and cover-ups for women to wear in and around the water. As a young mother, she spent countless hours in the sun and water protecting her children’s skin, but found limited choices to protect her own. Just two years after cover launched, Lisa’s 22-year-old sister was diagnosed with melanoma. Thankfully the tiny black dot was caught and removed early. Since that time, cover has focused on promoting health, as well as fashion and beauty. Lisa added cover® sun conscious swimwear® in 2012, making her swim shirts into swimsuits and adding active swimwear leggings and layering pieces.

Cover is committed to supporting fashion manufacturing in the United States. Lisa's design studio and corporate office is located in Dallas, while every single Cover garment is cut and sewn in a single Los Angeles factory that Lisa helped start. Lisa is a tribal member of the Choctaw Nation, and Cover is registered minority-owned business. The consultancy that Lisa recently launched to help other fashion entrepreneurs in their supply chain journey can be found here fashionproductionconsulting.com.

SUSTAINABLE FABRIC

SWIM JERSEY® is cover's own specially constructed fabric made of highly opaque recycled microfibers. The UPF 50+ certification means that it blocks 98% of UV rays. Since the protection is physical (not chemical), cover will keep you covered, even with daily wears and washes. Get your cover sunsuit damp, and it will actually keep you cool under the hot sun. Our patterns and artist prints are also made in Los Angeles via eco-friendly, zero-waste sublimation heat transfer printing.

FIT

We size in line with clothing, not with the rest of the swimwear market.  Please order the size you would choose in a bodysuit or fitted t-shirt.  Our bathing suits are more fitted than the swim t, so you might want to size down in the swim t if you are looking for a more body-conscious fit. We make everything with longer sleeves and slightly longer bodies. If you are between sizes, order based on height.  We suggest considering sizing down if 5'5" or shorter and sizing up if 5'8" or taller.

BRA SUPPORT

We spent about two years in R&D looking to build in support but weren't happy with the trials. Lisa actually swims in her best fitting nylon bra, as she says it provides her favorite shape and best support.  We recommend you do that same if you need support. It works perfectly so just #layerit.
